Thanks to our partnership with Stockport Council and local partners, the community orchards of the borough are now even more fruitful spaces.
CURRENT PROJECT SITES
-
Woodbank Park Restoration
It’s been a pleasure to begin restoration works to the community orchard in Woodbank Park. With no formal ‘friends of’ group attached. We’re keen to kick-start a crack team of orchard enthusiasts to continue this fruitful work for many years to come.
-
Siding's Orchard
This “Flagship” orchard is the largest community orchards in Stockport with 80+ mature and veteran fruit trees. The work is never over here, with a mix of apples, pears, cherries, plums and damsons.
Overseen by Heaton Mersey Village Conservation Group we’ve partnered with them and Stockport Council. To continue to use this space as a fabulous training ground for any level of orchard enthusiast. -
Woodford Recreation Ground
One of the newest community orchards planted by Stockport Council in 2022 the site is home to a myriad of fruiting trees including medlars, quince, cherries, mirabelles and lots of heritage apples and pears. We’re working in partnership with Sustainable Bramhall to give the trees their first few years of formative pruning and offer other orchard skills workshops throughout the year.
